100,000 TPY Biodiesel Plant Project at Lahad Datu, Sabah (May 2006 – July 2007)

Description of Project:

This project is a continuous process plant, producing biodiesel (Methylester) as the main product, and glycerine as the secondary product. Fully commissioning, it has production capacity of generating 100,000 tonnes of biodiesel per year with 8,000 running hours per year. This plant produces 11,600 tonnes of crude glycerine (82 – 85% purity) per year.

Services Provided:

1st Stage:
Project Management:

• To prepare preliminary proposal to the client on the balance of plant works for the plant;
  

2nd Stage:
To prepare contract agreement, breakdown of cost, basis of design and basic design for balance of plant works, and the scope of work of contractor. Balance of Plant works include:

• Civil – geotechnical, earthworks, roads, stormwater drainage, wastewater drainage, water supply, buildings and structures, tank farm, security fencing, and waste management.
• Mechanical – utilities including boiler and steam system, storage tanks and heating system, compressed air system, nitrogen blanketing system, cooling tower, fire fighting and protection system, weighbridge, unloading and export pumps, piping, water treatment system, wastewater treatment system, and overhead hoist crane.
• Electrical – distribution transformer, switchgear, standby diesel generator, DC battery and chargers, uninterrupted power supply (UPS) system, communication and security system, lighting, lighting protection system, earthing system, cabling, filed instrumentation and interfacing works with control system, and electric motors.

To perform tender evaluation of Engineering, Procurement, and Commissioning (EPC) Contractors for Balance of Plant works.

3rd Stage:
To prepare:

• Time schedule for equipment deliveries from both technology provider(in this case, De Smet Ballestra(DSB)) and EPC Contractor
• Work schedule, co-ordinate work between DSB and EPC Contractor
• And Review construction drawings
• And Ensure work execution meeting the specific timeline
