Description of Project:
The project involves the development, customisation and introduction of a Pavement Management System (PMS) to guide the future maintenance of a 1,500km urban road network comprising of new and old expressways and arterials, and local roads.
The project includes:
- Road referencing, data collection, calibration of models and optimisation
- Preparation of 5-year optimised maintenance and upkeep programs for different constraints and optimisation criteria
- Trial implementation of PMS with limited range of treatment options
- Implementation of detailed PMS with full range of treatment options
- Formal training programs, on-the-job training and an international study program
- Preparation of user manuals
Services Provided:
SMEC provided the pavement management system and is responsible for overall project management.
Services include:
- Establishment of data collection requirements and procedures, and supervision of data collection, verification and entry
- Establishment of a mapping module for the road network for linking to the PMS database
- Customisation and calibration of the PMS for local conditions and requirements
- Preparation of reports, work programs and other output
- Provision of training in PMS requirements, operation and use
- Preparation of user manuals
- Installation of hardware for system computer network in DBKL offices
