Slope and Drainage Remedial Works for Double Tracking Project near Kuala Kubu Baru, Selangor (May 2005- May 2006)

Description of Project:

The new track siltation near Kuala Kubu Baru new railway station suffered from mud slides, saltation and drainage problem following erosion and saltation upstream of the cut slopes next to the up track. The drains along the track has been almost completely clogged up by silt and sand eroded from the slopes which impeded the flow of water in the drain and worsened the drainage of the track.

Services Provided:

  • Site visit and reconnaissance survey
  • Address the slope instability and erosion problems at the fill areas and propose remedial measures
  • Address drainage problems at the fill areas and propose remedial drainage arrangement
  • Address the slope instability problems at cut areas and propose protection measures
  • Proposed remedial works for the drainage problem near the old Kuala Kubu Baru Station including addressing the downstream invert level
  • Submit conceptual design and final design drawings

Conceptual design was submitted to UEM Builders Berhad to present the approach to design and conceptual design about 1 month after mobilisation of team. The final design will detailed the proposed recommendation for remedial works, slope rehabilitation and remedial drainage detail recommendations for drainage along the alignment of the affected stretches.
