Pergau Hydroelectric Project - Stage 3

Client:

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB)

Description of Project:

The Project consists of a 600MW underground power station drawing water from a dam located on the Sg Pergau just downstream of its confluence with the Sg Yong. The flow capture of the scheme is enhanced by the pumped transfer of water from adjoining southern catchments through a 24 km long aqueduct. A re-regulating pond adjacent to the Sg Pergau in the vicinity of Kg Lawa will control outflow from the power station. Principal features of the project include:

  • Earthfill dam 77m high, crest length 405m , storage capacity 62 x  106m 3
  • Power intake and concrete and steel lined pressure tunnel
  • Underground power station with 4 x 150MW vertical Francis turbines, 495m rated head
  • 24km long aqueduct with a number of drop shafts for flow diversion from intervening catchments
  • 22m high lined embankment re-regulating pond, storage volume 1.5 x  106m 3
  • 15 bay double bus 275kV indoor GIS installation, 8km of 275kV transmission line and 30km of 33kV transmission line
